The Organizational Alignment Framework
The Organizational Alignment Framework is The Change Collaborative’s way of conceptualizing the various elements that leaders need to intentionally design so that the organization can operate at peak performance.
Every organization exists to support someone or to provide something. Wise leaders plan from the outside – in, starting with stakeholder viewpoints and customer needs. Stakeholders and customers can shift over time. It is important to periodically re-evaluate who they are, and the degree to which their needs are being met.
Leaders then translate stakeholder and customer perspective into a strategy for their organization, or how they will take action and satisfy those external demands. A well-defined strategy, along with an articulation of critical operating capabilities and management agreements about how they will lead, provide a blueprint for designing the inner workings of the operations.
The interlocking systems of an organization are the gears that ideally work in concert to turn the strategy into results. To be in harmony, work processes need to be supported by technology, organizational structure needs to be well defined and articulated, people need to be rewarded for acting in ways that further the strategy, and the systems that attract, develop, and place human resources need to support getting results, not get in the way
The buck stops here. At the end of the day, the results are the culmination of all of the critical thinking, planning, and execution happening elsewhere in the organization. It often said that an organization is designed perfectly to get the results it is currently getting. If you aren’t satisfied with the results you are seeing, explore what might be happening in your organization that is causing the misalignment and less than desirable performance.
We can help you align for better results. Let’s talk.
